The promotional tour for Mike Tyson’s fight with Jake Paul has continued, with the boxing legend revealing he’s “haunted” by his dark side and has to keep a lid on it during his rescheduled fight with the YouTuber on November 16 (AEST).
Speaking on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, Tyson said experience has taught him that if he lets that side of him roam free, it never ends well.
“When that tough guy Mike Tyson comes out when it’s not necessary to come out, I’m always in handcuffs,” Tyson said.

“So, I’m always careful when that guy comes out. Every time I drink or get ready to fight, I break out in handcuffs.
“Unfortunately, I have to fight and be that guy. I wish I could stop that guy.
“That guy haunts me. I wish I could stop that guy. I wish that guy died, but he’s here to stay.”
Tyson explained that he “gets rid of the guy” by loving his children and his family but that version of himself “wants to come back every second of my life.”
“It’s so easy for him to come back,” he added.
Tyson and Paul restarted the build up to their match at the home of the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas.
They had been set to meet on July 20 before Tyson became nauseous and dizzy on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles in May, with his representatives attributing the episode to an ulcer problem.
Tyson said he resumed training two or three weeks ago and feels fine.
Paul’s brother Logan urged the former champion to take his brother seriously, while trying to send a warning of sorts to the boxing Hall-of-Famer.
“I love you Mike, and I’m very nervous for you; I really care about you and I care about my brother and I know the path he is going on right now, and it’s ruthless Mike”, Paul explained.

“It’s so cool to watch he’s really crushing it, I want you to be OK in there Mike, I want you to take him seriously.
“He’s a real killer like he wanted to be a Navy Seal before he started boxing, like in high school he wanted to be a Navy Seal. He wanted to go and kill people on behalf of his country,” he added.
Tyson said life has taught him to never underestimate anybody.
“I’m fearful of my 13-year-old son, it’s just what I learned from my 58 years of experience is that anyone is capable of killing you,” he responded.
“From my life, the way I’ve lived and what I’ve seen, anyone has the capability to kill you so you should be apprehensive but that’s just my life, the way I’ve lived, everyone around me, the people I know are all capable of killing people.”
“I take him extremely serious,” Tyson added “These people (fans and analysts) don’t take him serious.”
Paul (10-1, 7 KOs) sparred with the fans during a recent press conference in New York who booed him ruthlessly.
“Hey New York, you’re just like Mike Tyson,” Paul said. “You were good 20 years ago.”
